2026 Swim Team Expectations for Swimmers & Parents

Practices:

1) Swimmers are encouraged to attend all practices.  Year round swimmers not registered for summer long course need to attend practice 2x a week, at minimum.

2) All swimmers will be coached to become legal in all strokes.

3) Practices will be fun, encouraging young swimmers to learn the strokes and how to dive from the blocks. The older swimmers will work a bit more on endurance.

4) Additional stroke clinics may be offered before certain practices.

5) Parents are welcome to watch practices, but please be mindful of older/younger children who are at the pool before it is open.

6) It is not mandatory for parents to stay at the pool during practice, but children may NOT be left unsupervised after practice.  All swim team and non-swim team members must leave at 11:55.  Club members and athletic members with guest passes are welcome to return at noon when the pool opens.

7) Children are not allowed to swim in the baby pool before the main pool is open.

Meets:

1) Swimmers are encouraged to attend all meets.  Swimmers must attend 4 of the 7 meets to be eligible to swim in championship meets (see points 5 and 6 below). This allows for swimmers to miss meets due to a week of vacation, for example, and/or sick days. This is a league rule and our roster will be checked by the league prior to us entering these meets.

2) Parents will sign up for meets online. There will be no sign-up sheets at the pool. Swimmers (or their parents) must sign up to indicate that they are available to swim in a meet so that the coaches can make the meet line-up. Swimmers (or their parents) must declare meet eligibility by the Friday before the week of events.  For example, our first meets will be the week of June 8th.  All swimmers must be declared for both meets (June 9th & 11th) by Friday, June 5th.

3) Swimmers are encouraged to cheer for their team during the meets.

4) Swimmers must stay in the designated areas so that coaches and parents can locate the swimmers for their events.

5) Swimmers are strongly encouraged to be available for the League Championship Relay Meet (Wednesday, July 8th), as it affects other members of their team. Online sign up will be available so that swimmers (or their parents) can indicate their availability for this meet. The coaches will have this line-up done two days prior to the meet.

6) Swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in the Individual League Championships on Monday, July 6th if asked by the coaches. This is a great chance for Ingomar Swim Team to shine in the league, and for swimmers to earn individual awards. There are no relays in this meet. Swimmers get to swim individual events.

7) All parents must help with home meets. We also need help timing and place judging at away meets. Volunteer jobs will be available online for sign up before the meets. Each family is required to volunteer at every home meet and 2 away meets. During the kick off party, and at time trials, volunteer opportunities such as timing will be more thoroughly explained.

General:

1) Please feel free to discuss any problems or concerns with the coaches or a swim team coordinator.  We are here to help this be a pleasant learning experience for you and your child.

2) Questions regarding the team website should be directed to [email protected].

3) Our ultimate goal is that the kids, swimmers, and coaches alike, have fun!
